The Illinois Governor Blagojevich appointed a former atty general (Burris) to the Senate seat, vacated by Barack Obama, today. There has been statewide and nationwide negative response. I think that it appears to be a solid pick. This man is African American, he has experience, and he has a clean track record. The longer this vacancy exists, the more it further damages the democratic party in Illinois. What's next? Approve the appointment? Statewide referendum?
Should this appointment be overturned just because it was made by an apparently corrupt governor?
